Guide to choosing a dehumidifier

Updated March 02, 2026

On construction sites, humidity can slow down work, damage materials and compromise the quality of finishes. Professional dehumidifiers from Polypoles can quickly dry out spaces and guarantee optimal conditions for your work.

Depending on your needs, there are different types of dehumidifier. Read our tips in this article and check out our dehumidifiers.

What is a dehumidifier?

A dehumidifier is a piece of equipment designed to quickly dry out a space or stabilize humidity levels in a room. It is particularly effective at reducing excess humidity in the air, which can lead to mold growth and respiratory problems.

When should a dehumidifier be used?

Dehumidifiers are frequently used in fields such as building and civil engineering. In particular, they are used to speed up drying out after construction work, or to treat storage spaces exposed to humidity. They are also suitable for a variety of environments, including offices, wet rooms, multi-purpose halls, basements, sports facilities and warehouses.

How does it work?

The unit draws in moisture-laden ambient air via a fan, then filters it before directing it to an evaporator. Here, the air is cooled to below its dew point, causing the water it contains to condense. The recovered water is then collected in a built-in tray or discharged to the outside via a drainage system.
