MOBILE SPLIT AIR CONDITIONER
Mobile split air conditioners consist of 2 parts, unlike monobloc air conditioners: the indoor unit and the outdoor unit. The internal unit that cools is called the evaporator, and the external unit that removes the heat is called the condenser. If it’s a small air conditioner, it should always be near an opening to the outside (door, window), so that the hoses connecting the 2 units can be routed through. For larger power ratings, hose lengths can be increased (up to 30 meters).
Selection criteria for your mobile split air conditioner
When choosing your mobile split air conditioner, there are several parameters to consider. First, let’s look at the power you need. Here’s a simplified rule of thumb to calculate the number of kW required.
Volume to be cooled inm3 x insulation coefficient = Number of W or kW
Insulation coefficient value according to type of construction :
Office, insulated room: 30 W/m3
Room with average insulation or glazing facing the sun: 50 to 70 W/m3
Tents/chapiteaux: 150 to 200 W/m3
The POLYPOLES design office is at your disposal to help you determine the power required.
Important information:
The SID mobile split air conditioner has a refrigeration link between the indoor unit and the outdoor unit. It can therefore only be connected by a professional refrigeration engineer.
FAC and PAC models, on the other hand, have a water-cooled condenser, and the connections between the indoor and outdoor units contain water. This makes connection and disconnection very easy, thanks to watertight quick-release couplings. Additional links can be added in 5 or 10-meter modules, to offset the outdoor condenser by up to 30 m.
Application examples for mobile split air conditioners according to power ratings
Mobile split air conditioners 4.3 kW
Ideal for small premises (offices, waiting rooms, doctors’ surgeries, etc.).
PAC or FAC air conditioners
They are used in professional and industrial environments. Powerful, they are highly efficient for cooling technical premises, data centers, hospitals, workshops, reception halls…
The advantages of mobile split air conditioners
- They are more powerful and efficient than single-package air conditioners.
- Low maintenance
- They are much quieter than other air conditioners because the condenser is located outside.
Also, the installation of PAC or FAC (more powerful mobile split air conditioners) is easier to manage when there is no possible air outlet nearby. The condenser installation can be offset up to 30 m from the main unit by adding lengths of hose.
